OUR STORY

Established as an entrepreneurial exercise in late October 2016, the idea of starting a guitar servicing business existed as exactly that, but quickly became a solution to apply technical engineering skills within the music industry.

Since then Weztech has continued to grow having serviced and repaired various guitar, amplifier, pedal models and looking after many clients, at a local workshop based in Mitcham.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

We’ve put together this small video introducing Weztech from its initial beginnings to a full-time operating small business. Wes discusses the origins of Weztech, his influences both as a technician and a musician and the passion that drives him forward.

A MAN WITH A DREAM

And the driving force behind it all is 30 year old Wesley Zagorc; a guitarist of 20 years.
Wes began learning the guitar at local high school Vermont Secondary College in 2006 and continued through University studies having graduated from Swinburne with a double degree in Mechanical Engineering and Commerce (majoring in Management) in 2018.

He received a High Distinction for his Final Year Research Project which involved; “Determining The Quality Of Electrostatic Speakers In An Outdoors Environment” and completed subjects in Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

Being self-taught to repair, improve and modify his own instruments; he decided to put his interest and education to the test working on guitars, amps and pedals belonging to friends and family, eventually growing Weztech to support a wide customer base. His pursuit of upskilling and mentorship have led to brief opportunities to work alongside industry masters like Paul Gale, Dale Sherlock and Chris Wynn.

Some notable highlights of his budding craftsmanship have been the full replica constructions of three iconic guitars; Jimmy Page’s ‘Dragon’ Telecaster (2018) , Eric Clapton’s ‘The Fool’ SG (2020), and Andy Summers’ Three-Tone Sunburst Telecaster (2022) all hand painted and assembled by Wes.

He has played as the lead guitarist, lead vocalist and sound technician in two Melbourne cover bands; Midnight Medley (2017 - 2020) and Herding Cats (2019) and was co-founder and lead guitarist for the Melbourne band
Olympic White (2018 - 2021).

In recent years, Wes has performed annually with the National Boys Choir at their Christmas Concerts at the Hamer Hall and has volunteered with the Red Frogs at Phillip Island during schoolies week, as a Location Leader from (2017 - 2020).
